About Clipstead
Why Clipstead exists and what we are building.
Clipstead started with a small, annoying problem: saving a link is easy, but finding it again rarely is.
Browser bookmarks become a drawer full of old tabs. Read-later apps become another inbox. Notes lose the source they came from. Clipstead is an attempt to make that whole loop feel lighter.
What we are building
The first version is deliberately narrow: a fast place to save links and return to them. From there, we want to add the context that makes a saved page useful—clean text, notes, highlights, tags, and search—without making the app feel busy.
The browser extension should make capture nearly invisible. The web and desktop apps should feel like the same quiet library. Your data should be easy to move, back up, and leave with.
The standard
Clipstead should open quickly, stay out of the way, and never make you organize something before you can save it. Powerful features can come later. The basic path has to stay simple.
That is the product we want for ourselves, so that is the one we are building.
